“The moment Detective Sergeant Jeff Holland walked into the Collins residence, he knew he was crossing the threshold of evil. He could feel it. He slipped his hands into a pair of skin-tight latex gloves and placed shoe coverings over his size eight loafers before carefully walking down a short hallway. It was very quiet. Eerily quiet. He recognized the stench of drying blood, but another putrid odor invaded his nostrils. An odor he knew only too well that came from internal organs. He brushed a lock of thick, brown hair from his forehead, took an antacid tablet from a roll he carried and chewed on it as he approached the doorway of the master bedroom. He stopped at the entrance and surveyed the inside of the room. Years of police work could not have prepared him for the sight”..

John White proves that he is well-versed in both police and investigation procedures, as well as the psychology and behavior of serial murderers. The Archetype Case murderer is a one-of-a-kind violent predator who is up against an equally dedicated investigator who would stop at nothing to apprehend him before committing another murder. It’s a page-turner from start to finish and a true look into this dark world.

I’ve read a lot of real crime, and you only get the author’s impressions on the criminal’s mental state. The most compelling reason to read this genre is to get insight into what makes people tick. John White is an expert in his industry, and he has put together a unique approach to this crime novel/textbook in which you may find many of these answers.

John White is an expert on the subject, and his expertise shines through in this work. You practically feel as though you’re at the crime scene at certain moments. I’m very sure he was, or he has a really vivid imagination. This is a book that should not be overlooked. What happened next piqued my interest, and I was eager to learn more.

This book was spot on and intriguing from beginning to end, as someone who studied serial murderers and investigative work in graduate school. In the Archetype Killer, Dr. White developed one of the most heinous serial murderers. I liked how the majority of the book is told from the perspective of the detectives, but you also get to see the killer’s point of view at times. While reading Chapter 5, I genuinely screamed obscenities on the beach. This book is not only amusing but also instructive. For anyone interested in learning more about serial murderers, this is an excellent method to obtain a better understanding of their minds.
